DIGITAL DESIGN

The way I see digital design would include things such as package design, digital image work, and typography. However there would still be a separation from it and user experience design- I already have a few pieces I would particularly point to to exhibit my skills even as they are still developing.

Skull Splitter Redesign

During my second year in the GD program at CMU we redesigned a the packaging for a six pack we though could have a change of image.

Photo Restoration

Here is an example of my work in restoring photos digitally, along with the process the images went through for the re-colorization. This involved cleaning up the photo adjusting levels, and then going in to add the color.

Typography

As our first step into typography we were tasked with writing a statement on where we see ourselves in the future, and then to elevate it through the use of our typography and visuals.

In the above photo the orignial image of the monster was AI generated, but I can only claim the work I put into then editing and remixing it. Our class project was meant to use ethically sourced AI art work and then editing in our selfies to meet the same art style.

Ethical use of AI artwork

In the last few years we have seen an uptick in the use of AI ‘artwork’. As a part of how our professor sees the use of AI we learned to use ethical generators, and then we were taught what work needs to be done to then make the artwork your own rather than let it remain AI art.

This is a little less on my work with AI artwork, and more my philosophy on how it should be used ethically in today’s society. It should be used as a tool to inspire your own art rather than to generate and claim it as your own. When you take the piece created by the AI you have to then push and altar it before it is even close to something you have worked. The advancements in AI have come a long way but that doesn’t mean that AI can completely replace the artist or any creative minds in the industry.

Type Face Design

Our next step in typography was to then create our own typeface complete with all Roman characters, Arabic numerals, and basic symbols.
